ShortCaps is a mobile app that helps users create, edit, style, preview, and export captions for short videos. This Privacy Policy explains how ShortCaps handles your data.
ShortCaps may access video, audio, and caption-related files that you select inside the app. These files are used only to provide app features such as caption generation, caption editing, preview, styling, and video export.
ShortCaps does not require users to create an account for the basic app flow unless a future version adds account-based features.
When you select a video, the app may process the video and audio to generate captions and export a captioned video.
If local processing is used, your video and audio files remain on your device and are processed locally.
If you choose or enable a cloud-based feature, such as cloud transcription, text-to-speech, voice generation, or other online processing, the required audio, text, or related content may be sent to the relevant third-party service only for processing the requested feature.
We use the selected files and generated caption data to:
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not share your videos, audio, or captions with third parties except where necessary to provide a feature you use, such as cloud-based transcription, text-to-speech, voice generation, analytics, crash reporting, payment processing, or other app services.
ShortCaps may use third-party services for features such as transcription, voice generation, app analytics, crash reporting, payments, or app distribution. These third-party services may process data according to their own privacy policies.
Examples of possible third-party services include Google Play services, payment providers, analytics/crash reporting providers, and AI processing providers if cloud-based features are enabled.
ShortCaps may store project files, captions, settings, export files, and style preferences locally on your device. You can delete app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data, subject to your device settings.
ShortCaps may request permissions needed to access videos, save exported files, or connect to the internet. The app only uses permissions required for its core functionality.
ShortCaps is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We take reasonable steps to protect user data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
